Our centre is home to a state-of-the-art stainless steel commercial kitchen. It is from here that our team develops, prepares, cooks and serves all of the meals for our Territory Kids.
Jay is our centre chef, a Territorian who has worked in the food industry for 30 years – from cooking in restaurants, running catering businesses and managing school canteens – Jay has now been in the Childcare Industry for 10 years.
Jay has a Diploma in Raw Food Nutrition, which provides the skills for Jay to get the most out of food – with minimal sugars, salt, bad fats and processing. Jay is a vital part in providing and growing food knowledge and nutrition education with our families and children at Territory Kids.
I love to prepare fresh food for our children that incorporates whole foods in their natural state and encourage the lifelong love of a variety of tastes and textures. I believe that all children will choose fresh healthy food over processed junk foods every time if they are introduced to a wide variety of tastes and textures as their developmental stages allow. Food should be a fun, exciting, social, enjoyable part of daily life and this is easily achieved if we allow our children to try different foods at their own pace.
